Fields

Michael Fields is a graduate of now-defunct Utica High School where he made the All-District team in football and was the state champion in the long jump event.As a football player at Hinds, Fields was an outstanding wide receiver. He also excelled in track and field, and was a part of the State and Regional Championship track team. Fields was named to All-State and All-Region for his efforts, excelling in the triple jump.

Fields then took his talents down the road to Mississippi College. He was named to the All-American and All-Conference teams in 1984, and still holds the record for the longest kickoff return of 97 yards against the University of West Georgia in 1985. Fields' special teams' excellence on the gridiron earned him a spot on the Gulf South Conference's Team of the Decade in the1980s as a kick return specialist. For his success in football and track and field, Fields was inducted into the MC Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.

After spending 1986 with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL), Fields returned to Mississippi to begin an illustrious coaching career. During his time at Utica High School, Raymond High School and Hinds Agricultural High School (Hinds AHS), Fields has won eight outdoor track and field championships and one indoor track and field championship. Fields, who also serves as the head football coach and athletic director at Hinds AHS, led the Bulldogs football team to a perfect 10-0 season in 2005. He has been named the Coach of the Year twice (1992 and 1996) by the Mississippi Association of Coaches.

Fields lives in Utica. He is the father of a one-year old son, Michael Fields Jr.
