Scholarships
Because we are committed to seeing all of our students realize their educational and career goals, providing scholarships for students is the Development Foundation's top priority. While the Foundation stretches scholarship monies as far as possible, it is more important than ever to secure additional funds from private contributors.
Each year the Scholarship Committee reviews hundreds of worthy applications from deserving students and it is extremely difficult to make the final selections. Committee members consider each student's desire for achievement, involvement in extra curricular activities, financial need, grades, ACT scores, and letters of recommendation.
Through the Development Foundation Scholarship application process, we are made aware of students with needs that cannot be seen by simply reviewing financial documents. We are also able to discern potential in students that may not be adequately measured through testing procedures. It is for these students that we are seeking additional scholarship funds.
Through a scholarship gift to the Hinds Development Foundation, contributors can actually monitor the progress of a student as he or she benefits from the donation, reaching goals that once seemed unattainable. Providing a Hinds scholarship for a deserving student is also an excellent way to honor or memorialize a loved one, and individual criteria can be matched to the donor's desires.
We hope many more students will be able to achieve their educational goals in the future because of your support of Hinds Community College. Your contribution will help ensure the success of deserving students by providing them with the funds needed to complete their education. Even the smallest gifts can make a difference to Hinds students.
2007 Scholarship Recipients
Two types of scholarships are awarded through the Foundation (Scholarship Guidelines):
• Endowed scholarships can be established with a minimum gift that generally starts at $15,000. These funds are invested on a permanent basis and live on in perpetuity with only the investment income awarded each year to a deserving, qualified student.
• Non-endowed scholarships may be established at any time with a minimum gift of $500. Awards are made on a year-to-year basis.
You may download the Giving Form and mail the completed form along with your donation to: HCC Development Foundation, P. O. Box 1100, Raymond, MS 39154
