• The course syllabus and policy sheet is usually the first information your instructor will give you on the first day of class. It contains important information such as what textbook to buy, what will be expected of you in class (attendance and grades), what you can expect from the class, and where, when, and how to contact your instructor outside of class. You should always keep this where it can be found, preferably in your notebook that you take to each class meeting.
• Semester hour - means the number of hours the class meets in a week and the number of college credits given when the class is successfully completed. (for example ENG 1113 - the last number is the number of semester hours of credit - 3)
• MWF - on schedule means the class meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the time listed.
• TR - on class schedule means the class meets on Tuesday and Thursday at the time listed.
• Drop a class - during fall or spring a class can be dropped for $5 fee the first week without a grade being recorded
• Add a class - during fall or spring a class can be added for $5 fee the first week without a grade being recorded.
• Withdraw from a class - student completes single class withdrawal (see admissions) when not being successful in order to receive a "W" grade (see full policy in Student Handbook). Single course withdrawals may cause fees to increase in some instances.
• Withdraw from college (all classes) - student completes the complete withdrawal from college form (in a counseling office) in order to receive a "W" grade (see full policy in Student Handbook). Withdrawing may cause student to owe all or part of the fees if receiving Federal Financial Aid, Scholarship, Veteran Benefits, etc.
