Advanced Registration

Advanced Registration occurs in three (3) four-week periods during the year:
  • mid-April to mid-May (for summer and fall terms)
  • early July to early August (for fall term)
  • mid-November to mid-December (for spring term)

Students are encouraged to take advantage of Advanced Registration to avoid lines and filled classes. See the College Calendar for specific dates. The times may vary with location; therefore, you should consult the printed Class Schedule for the exact hours of business each day.

Before Advanced Registering, you must complete all admission requirements. Then you will be advised by a counselor in your chosen field of study as to what courses you need. Next you choose specific classes for the prescribed courses. Finally, you will pay some fees.

Only the registration fee is required at the time of Advance Registration; however, you may pay any or all remaining fees at this time. If all fees are not paid, you will be billed for the balance at a later date. All fees must be paid by the published fee payment deadline to avoid a late charge.

Any time until the day classes begin you may change your schedule free of charge by going to any location of hinds during business hours and making your request known. If your request is to change only times (and not subjects), no permission is required. But if subjects are to be changed, a counselor/advisor must approve in writing.

The registration fee is not refundable. If before the term begins you find that you cannot attend Hinds, you can receive a refund of all other fees paid by contacting any hinds counseling office and requesting to withdraw from school. This must be done by the published fee payment deadline for that term. If you have registered for classes but have not paid other fees, you should return the billing notice to the Business Office on the Raymond Campus with a note (with your signature) that you will not attend school. This action will remove you from all classes.

    Two additional notes:
  • Any class for which fewer than ten (10) students enroll by the beginning of the term is subject to cancellation. Every effort will be made to find you another section of the same course or a suitable substitute.
  • While every effort will be made to avoid it, changes in instructor and/or meeting room may be made without advanced notice.
